    What is Rhinoplasty?

    Rhinoplasty is a procedure designed to change the appearance of the nose, either to increase, decrease or modify its shape, to correct the appearance or some obstruction disorders when breathing.

    In some cases to have a greater harmony with the face, an increase of the chin is performed (this procedure is done according to what has been discussed with the corresponding plastic surgeon).

    Procedure

    Since the nose is the central part of the face, the professional seeks to give the best shape depending on facial features, this is determined by the assessment that is made to the patient, this surgery can be of two types, closed and open, as appropriate.

    The closed type is also the most used, because it leaves no visible scar because it is accessed through the nostrils to the area to be treated and the nose is shaped as desired.

    The open type, where the surgeon performs the procedure through the middle of the nose and thus access the area to be treated.

    Postoperative Care

    The patient must use plugs and / or nasal casts for 2 to 6 days, according to medical indications by the surgeon. It is important that the patient does not touch the bandages or remove them before the surgeon examines it, this could alter the results of the procedure.

    It is recommended to resume your daily activities in an approximate time of 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure is performed.

    Latest Recommendations:

    • Do not do physical activities after 2 to 3 weeks.

    • It is normal to have bleeding, but if this is accompanied by odor or is abundant you should go to your plastic surgeon.

    • It is advisable not to receive the sun for six weeks and to use sun protection.

    • Carry all the required papers for the day of surgery.
