What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is also known as “eyelid surgery,” this procedure is performed to remove excess fat and skin that is located on the upper and lower eyelids. You can also correct the separation that is generated in the upper eyelids or the pocketing of the lower part.

These characteristics make us look older and more exhausted than we are, can sometimes interfere with our vision, in these cases it is advisable to perform this procedure.

Blepharoplasty does not eliminate the famous “chicken legs” or other wrinkles generated in the face area.

Procedure

This procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia and is at the discretion of the plastic surgeon. This intervention lasts between one to 3 hours, if other procedures are not performed.

These incisions are mostly placed on the upper eyelids and under the lower lashes; sometimes it usually extends towards crow’s feet.

When the incisions are made, the skin is separated from the fat by removing excess fat and sometimes excess skin and muscle skin.

Postoperative Care

After the surgery, an ointment should be applied to the eyes so that they are lubricated and if it is recommended by the surgeon to place a soft bandage. Sometimes you can have discomfort in the eyelids; If you have them, it is advisable to take the medications prescribed by the corresponding surgeon.

The most advisable thing is to follow the instructions of the plastic surgeon to be able to have an early recovery (if you have complications, it is preferable to tell your surgeon).
